January 7, 2014

Companies are producing data at an explosive rate, but retaining data that is no longer needed for business or legal purposes can be risky and expensive. Good corporate governance includes effective and appropriate information management, notes John Martin, partner and practice leader at Nelson Mullins Encompass, a division of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP.

Mr. Martin will participate in a webcast on the topic Jan. 17 from noon to 1 p.m. sponsored by The Ethisphere® Institute, an independent center of research, best practices, and thought leadership that promotes best practices in corporate ethics and compliance.

During the webcast, participants will learn

  • Why this is an issue - exploding data, risks, and costs
  • Why defensibility is important
  • Technology and legal- working together as a team to implement good governance practices and integrate information governance decisions into corporate technology strategies
  • Examples of information lifecycle governance practices - cloud, litigation hold, defensible disposal considerations
